Story
Thanks to Covid-19, this birthday wasn't going to be like any other, no sitting in the pub for hours, going dancing or with limited chance for a big get together...so instead Rico and I thought we'd mark the occasion by walking 20k to raise money for a remarkable charity. The Magpie Project supports vulnerable mothers with children under 5 years old living in Newham, an area in London which has been hardest hit by Covid-19. These families are seeing their children grow up in dangerous, insect-infested, insecure accommodation. Many have no recourse to public funds (NRPF) a condition imposed on someone due to their immigration status, which prohibits them from accessing essential financial support despite their children living in poverty.
These families will be living on £37 per week food vouchers. If you can donate anything to this charity, it will help them support these families buy the following:
£3 could pay for a parent to catch a bus to access food banks
£7 could pay for nappies
£15 could provide 3 mums with a month's worth of essential hygiene products, like shampoo, tampons and soap
£30 could buy a week's worth of hot food and healthy snacks for a family visiting the Magpie Project.
The Magpie Project was set up by concerned parents, grandparents and members of the community and offers a clean, fun and supportive space for at-risk families to spend time during the day.

If you'd like to join me and Rico on our sponsored walk around Richmond Park on Saturday 19th September we'd love to see you and will be kicking off from Chiswick at 11am. Alternatively, if you fancy skipping the walk and joining us for a well deserved slice of cake - we'll be finishing outside Pembroke Lodge at 3pm!
Huge thanks and love, Katy and Rico
