Brighton Marathon 2012 · 15 April 2012 ·
Oh Hello! :)
Thanks for visiting our page! Ben is running the Brighton Marathon 2012 and Katy is doing a 12, 000 feet tandem skydive to raise money for the Martlets Hospice - an amazing charity which is very close to our hearts.
So why have we chosen to participate in these ridiculous activities?!?
The Martlets look after adults who are approaching the end of their lives as well as providing emotional support to family and friends.
The Martlets supported some people really close to us recently and we were able to see the valuable work they actually do. They only receive 29% of their funding through the NHS and rely heavily upon fabulous (or stupid) people like us to raise the rest.
We have a target of £895 to raise - but hopefully more as the Hospice must raise over £9,000 each and every day to care for the patients and their families. Check out the nerdy bit below to see...
...What could your sponsorship pay for?
£5 would buy 1 medical dressing
An essential everyday item for patient care including wound care
£10 would buy ingredients for 5 days’ meals for 1 patient
£37 would pay for 1 counselling session
Many families and patients benefit from emotional support especially during bereavement.
£56 would pay for 2 OT sessions
Occupational Therapy provides advice and equipment to support safe independent living.
£104 would support and train 1 volunteer for 1 year
The Martlets depend on over 500 volunteers to support our work including patient care and fundraising.
Every sponsorship, however large or small, will make a real difference to the people they care for.
Thanks for sponsoring us!
Lots of love,
Katy and Ben x
