As many of you know I've been plodding around marathons for a few years now. I thought I'd better do something special for marathon number 10 and so I decided to enter the iconic Two Oceans ultra marathon in Cape Town. Yep, an ultra - that's 35 miles (or 56 kilometres if you prefer) and its hilly. Oh and I have to get round in 7 hours.

I wasn't lucky enough to meet Elsie but I heard about her through friends. Elsie had the epileptic condition West's syndrome and despite fighting bravely she sadly passed away aged just 22 months. Elsie spent a lot of time at Shooting Star Chase during her life and they did so much to help and support Elsie and her family. I met Holly and Elsie's little sister Iris some time later and I've been inspired by the family's courage and the amazing fundraising they have done in Elsie's memory.

As a mum I can't begin to imagine how it feels to lose a child and so I want to raise money to help "Pay for a week for Elsie"  so that Shooting Star Chase can continue their amazing work.
