Some of you may know that I only took up running a couple of years ago but it is something I now love to do. I'm now stepping it up and am excited to run my first half marathon. For the first time I'll also be running for a charity so I wanted to make sure it was a charity I actually care about and Embrace really stood out to me.
Victims of any crime can struggle to come to terms with their experience let alone overcome it and envision a better future ahead and this can be even more difficult for children who in many cases may not understand that they are a victim until later in life when the trauma will have deepened. Embrace not only looks to support these children but also their families who are often forgotten about.
Some people may not have the confidence or the opportunity to be able to do the things that they are passionate about, whether it is due to the effects of a terrible personal experience or maybe they feel as if they are not allowed to enjoy themselves. This is why I chose to run for Embrace...to in some small way use something I love to give others the opportunity to follow through with their passions.
