From the start I felt I was a bit 'pushed' into this despite me knowing it would be the perfect excuse to get fit and raise some money for a great charity. What initally started with 4 blokes from Macclesfield Round Table facing a challenge, has now turned into a group of about 20!

The training has been long and hard. Starting from January, each weekend has been taken up with a 30-40 mile jaunt down local Cheshire lanes and up Cheshire hills. In my quest to get fitter the car was cast aside and I now pedal furiously to work each morning and back again.

To be fair, once I got over the intial shock of training,  I've really taken to road cycling and I'm just glad I can contribute to raising money for 'Macclesfield Wheelies' through the Macclesfield Round Table. Three days of cycling through the Lake District - it's going to tough, really tough, but it will be worth it.

Macclesfield Wheelies is run and governed entirely by volunteers and meets on a Saturday morning, normally at Tytherington High School.

The club provides a wide variety of wheelchair sports and activities (eg basketball, boccia, football, sailing, swimming, cycling, trampolining, ten pin bowling, crown green bowling, archery and skiing) and caters for all age groups with members throughout Cheshire East and the surrounding areas.
