Story
Hi! As some of you know I'm running Sheffield Man of Steel. This is a ten k run but also has a number of gruelling challenges along the way, such as monkey bars, carrying sandbags up a hill (which looks horrible), climbing a hay bale wall, going under a cargo net, and running through a pond, amongst other things. It looks quite hard. I have been spending quite a few evenings slogging away at long hilly runs and circuit training, and plan to raise money for Sheffield based charity 'Dig Deep'.
Here's some information from the website about what they do:
'Dig Deep is a UK registered charity committed to helping communities in East Africa improve their access to water, sanitation and renewable energy. Through working with a range of inspirational local partners, we help communities to drill wells, harvest rainwater and access renewable technologies so that they are better able to overcome the challenges they face. We also work to train local people in how to use and maintain this infrastructure to ensure that our projects are fully sustainable.
Dig Deep is a small, grass roots organisation run almost entirely by a team of dedicated volunteers – employing only one member of staff. We believe passionately in empowering local people through helping them to access sustainable infrastructure. Our local partners and projects are currently focused in Central and Western Kenya.'
