"To live in the Hearts of those we love, is not to die"
I'm so grateful to wake up every morning and feel my heart beating. I'm so grateful that I'm fit and healthy enough to be able to train for a marathon.
So here I go again, in honour of my late husband Andy (died age 43), my late father Sean (died aged 36) and now my late mother Pauline (died aged 70) in running the Dublin Marathon. When I ran the London Marathon in honour of Andy in April 2017, I hadn't known then that my mother who passed away suddenly in May 2016 had died from Heart Disease as well. It's unbelievable to think that 3 of the people closest to me have all died from Heart Disease.
Many of us take for granted our lives every day, and I'm grateful that I've continue to find the courage and strength to carry on living a positive and happy life. However, that courage and strength only comes from those friends and family around me that have walked/ran with me every step of the way over the last few years and their support has never waivered. I run, because I can. I run, because my heart is still beating. I run, because this gives me the most enormous sense of purpose in knowing I'm helping others and they may not have to go through the pain and grief I have, from losing someone they love.
So my dearest friends, I'm digging deep yet again, and ask you to dig deep and support me in my endeavour's to run another marathon and keep the wind behind me. This is my way of thanking you all for your continued support, by doing something meaningful.
And thanks a million to the Red Cow Moran Hotel in Dublin for sponsoring my running kit. https://www.redcowmoranhotel.com
