About Antibiotic Research UK Antibiotic Research UK was established in 2014 to tackle the global threat of drug-resistant infections. If the world does not act now, the number of deaths is predicted to rise to 10 million by 2050. Our vision is a world free from drug-resistant infections.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As a hospital microbiology scientist I see more and more resistant bacteria. Bacteria that won’t be treated by some or all of our current antibiotics.

The situation is dire.

Bacteria are simple yet clever. In layman’s terms they communicate by exchanging the machinery necessary to pump out or block antibiotics from killing them, ensuring their survival and threatening ours!

In future simple operations may not be performed due to the threat of post operative infection. Cancer patients rely on antibiotics to care for them when their own immune system cannot.

Research and development of new antibiotics and other ways to treat infection has never been more important and time is of the essence....

Please help where you can ....
