London to Cambridge Bike Ride · 26 July 2009
Hi Everyone! Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As you are probably aware, Lionel - my lovely fella - is currently recovering from surgery to remove a high grade sarcoma from his left thigh. Prior to diagnosis, he was challenged to take part in the London to Cambridge bike ride by a group of his mates from our local pub. As he is no longer able to take part, I have offered to be the honoury 'boy' and will be cycling the 59 miles with the lads at the end of July!!!
Lionel continues to slowly recover from his op and will hopefully be cheering me over the finishing line!! He is starting six weeks of radiotherapy in August.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. So please dig deep and donate now and keep watching my JustGiving page for frequent updates.....
I did it! Can't believe it myself as I had not been on a bike for around 20 years!! I finished the 60 miles in 6 hours which is quite incredible. The hills were challenging to say the least but the countryside was beautiful. The weather was perfect - no rain, slight breeze and not too sunny. As predicted, Lionel was there to cheer me over the finish line. He is doing very well now and will be starting 6 weeks of daily radiotherapy some time during August. Enjoy the pictures.......and thank you!
