We deliver sport for social change projects to increase life chances of young people

Story

So you all must be thinking I'm off my rockers? Sometimes I ask myself the same question and to be fair, I still do. Why run the marathon? Why put yourself through that pain and torture?

The truth is I enjoy exercising and being active. Ever since I was a little girl, I've always had the privilege of playing sports, being active and meeting new people but for some children (or even adults today) this hasn't been the case. This could be for all sorts of reasons from today's society's behaviours, to having the lack of confidence of doing so. Ever since game consoles and technology have come out and integrated into our lives, I find more and more people are becoming hermits and would rather sit behind their screens rather than enjoying the fresh air and socialising. Yes sometimes we need our duvet days but what is more rewarding is being fit and healthy.

What I've found with Saracens Sport Foundation is that they want to encourage people to take part in sports and help them grow as a person as well as to promote health and well-being. To look after oneself. This is one key area where I believe that we, as humans are forgetting and are becoming lazy. Saracens Sport Foundation runs events in the community and promote what we've forgotten. With more and more events and campaigns like this, I hope that future generations can change and be more aware of the importance of being fit and active before we become a nation of couch potatoes.

Someone has to start somewhere before its too late.

Yours,

Kelly
