Harrow!

As some of you may already know, I have applied to run the Jane Tomlinson’s 10K on 23rd of May.

Those of you who know me well will know that I am not much of an athlete! I began my training last summer and have battled my way to a point where I may just about manage it!

I have chosen to raise money for The Prostate Cancer Charity, a cause close to my heart. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. In many cases it is a very slow growing cancer that men may be dangerously unaware of as it may never cause any symptoms. There is no way to prevent prostate cancer, but it can be diagnosed and also treated if found early enough. A diagnosis of prostate cancer and the side effects of treatment for the disease can have a huge impact on men and their families. The Prostate Cancer Charity mainly focuses on providing support and information, and funding research into the disease. The charity offers a fantastic support service to anyone affected by the disease, and provides the only UK-wide helpline staffed by prostate cancer specialist nurses.

The charity has done a brilliant job for someone very close to me, offering him and everyone around him support throughout his treatment, describing the procedures he would face and also providing emotional support.

As with many charities, financial support from the government is minimal, so they rely heavily on generous donations. Any amount donated would be gratefully received. Whether it’s 50p or £10, every penny counts!

I completed the run in 55 minutes and 9 seconds, beating my target of an hour! I am absolutely chuffed, the run was a brilliant experience, everyones support has been fantastic, thank you!
