Kelvyn's Summer Stretch for NASS

Kelvyn Morris is raising money for National Axial Spondyloarthritis Society

Summer Stretch for NASS · 6 July 2020

We provide support to people affected by AS to change and improve lives for the better.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Axial Spondyloarthritis is an inflamatory arthritis where the main symptom is back pain. It is painful, progressive, usually affecting the spine but can affect other limbs and joints.

I have had AS for over 40 years and I am acutely aware of the need to exercise regularly to reduce the level of pain, maintain a good posture and range of movement.

1 in 200 of the adult population in the UK have AS. That's twice as many as Multiple Scelerosis and Parkinson's disease with the average age of onset just 24 years of age.

The current average delay to diagnosis is 8.5 years which is far too long and by which time irreversible damage may have been done to the spine.

All funds raised will be used by NASS to support people with AS and they will continue to campaign to reduce the delay to diagnosis which is vital. Due to Covid-19 a lot of anticipated fund raising events have been cancelled with a resultant impact on the Charity's income. I would not like to see their vital work diminished due to lack of funds so please help them if you possibly can.

For this event I will be doing the exercises daily for two weeks commencing the 6th July 2020. If you are interested in finding out more about AS please visit www.nass.co.uk.
