As a Mum it really saddens me to know that many young girls have experienced untold levels of violence in their young lives which leaves them emotionally and physically scarred. During my trip I will help to build a support centre which enables them to seek help and gain confidence to get justice. Violence against women and girls is one of the most widespread human rights abuses, affecting one in three women and girls worldwide. In Mwakirunge, Mombasa, there are high levels of child pregnancy, child marriage and FGM; all factors that prevent girls from finishing their education and living the childhood they should be having.
