Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Who is Georgia?

Georgia Glover was born on 4th January 2009. She's just like every other little four year old, full of fun, smiling, looking happy and healthy. On the inside though, it's a very different story. At only one month old she was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis.

What is CF?

CF is caused by a faulty gene which allows too much salt and water into cells. This results in a build-up of thick, sticky mucus in the body's tubes and passageways. These blockages damage the lungs, digestive system and other organs, resulting in the symptoms of cystic fibrosis.

What does treatment involve?

Georgia has a very full day just to keep her CF under control. Vitamins, digestive treatments, antibiotics, enzyme treatment to help break down fat in her body, nebulizers and a rigorous physiotherapy routine to help prevent mucus build-up in the lungs. Georgia is very prone to infection and has spent a lot of time in Macclesfield Hospital Children's Ward recovering from such setbacks.

Georgia attends Macclesfield Hospital Children's Ward every six to eight weeks for a review with her Consultant, Physiotherapist, Dietitian and Specialist nurse. Once per year Georgia undergoes blood tests, Xray's of her chest and scans of her liver which is all reviewed with the CF team from Alderhay Hospital. Georgia's family are so grateful to the CF clinic at Macclesfield Hospital Children's Ward and worked tirelessly to raise £1500 to buy a Spirometer which is used to detect how well a patients lungs are working.

How can you help?

On the 11th and 12th of May, I will be attempting to walk, stumble, crawl, drag and most probably cry myself up, over and back down the 3 peaks (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon) I will be doing this to hopefully raise enough cash that will help in buying more equipment to be used in the children's ward and CF clinic at Macclesfield Hospital.

And this, is where you lovely generous people come in....

You can help by donating as much as you can to support this extremely worthwhile cause.

So please....

If you personally know Georgia and her family, or you have been touched by her story, then do it for them.

If you know someone who suffers from cystic fibrosis, then do it for them.

If you know of any children that have been or are being treated at Macclesfield Hospital, then do it for them.

If you are a member of my beautiful family or one of my beautiful friends (this includes everyone on my facebook friends list!!) then do it for me.

Or, if somewhere along our journey through life, I have upset you, p*ssed you off or offended you in any way (for which I sincerely apologise) and you would like nothing more than to see me suffer, then please do it for yourself.

However you do it and whatever your reason, please just do it.... DONATE TODAY!!!

xxxxxx
