Story
Update: 14th May 2023 - after completing my first ultra challenge (or the first half as planned) yesterday along the jurassic coast, I achieved a personal best of 37.77 mile in on day, and with those hills - 1629m in elevation over the day too I’m pretty please with that! Coupled with a 4 week step challenge through one of our fantastic well-being champion I’m now at 580mile!
10th April 2023 - with 333 miles covered in just under 9 weeks so far and some increasingly longer distances and more challenging terrain planned in the coming months i’m really enjoying this journey and gratefully to everyone’s encouragement and donations to the cause xx
As the Staff Wellbeing Lead for Dorest HealthCare I really wanted to do something extra to support the wellbeing of our employees.
As we see the 75th Anniversary of the NHS in the summer this year the #NHS1000mile challenge appealed to me as something that would be just that, a challenge. I will be walking long and short walks, solo, with friends and in groups over the next 10 months.
I have created this just giving page to collect donations to our staff support fund which has already helped many of our employees who had found themselves in financial difficulties with a one off sum to help get them through a difficult time. This fund can be accessed via an application form and we also share information about other support available.
Thank you for your support in sponsoring me as I work my way through the 1000 miles, and I’m happy to share I have already managed to complete just over 100 mile within the first 2 1/2 weeks! Just got to keep up the pace now!!
