Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. The Maddi Foundation is a charity set up by a colleague and friend of mine whose sister was diagnosed with a life limiting genetic disease called Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia 15 (SPG15) in 2016.
Since Maddi’s diagnosis the Foundation have been actively involved in ongoing collaboration with scientists, researchers and clinicians across the UK, USA and Europe to develop a Gene Therapy. The Foundation are aiming to raise £2,500,000 to fund this vital research and have already provided and funded the initial stages of the research for a ‘Proof of Concept’ towards this treatment to halt the disease. Funds will be used to manufacture the therapy and clinical trials for Maddi and others suffering from this disease.
By working to find a cure for one rare disease like SPG15 we will be helping those suffering from many other genetic rare diseases.

The Hyrox fitness games is recognised as one of the toughest tests of fitness and endurance open to non professional athletes, so why wouldn't a 45 years old, unfit, injury riddled me not want to enter. What's not to love about the following:
- 1km Run
- 1000m Ski erg
- 1km Run
- 50m Sled push (152kg inc sled)
- 1km Run
- 50m Sled pull (103kg inc sled)
- 1km Run
- 80m Burpee Broad Jumps
- 1km Run
- 1000m Row
- 1km Run
- 200m Farmers carry (48kg)
- 1km Run
- 100m 20kg Sandbag lunges
- 1km Run
- 100 Wall balls (6kg ball 3m high target)
My aim is to complete this in under 1hr 20mins. For context my training started with a 5km run that took me nearly 35mins.
