Story

So turning the big 40 this year and I have decided I want to challenge myself as much as possible and while doing that make a difference wherever I can. I have a few events planned but the first big personal one for me is to attempt the 3 peaks challenge where myself and my oldest pal John Muldoon will trek the UK's 3 highest peaks in under 24 hours in May this year. I thought long and hard about what the first charity I would choose as there are so many worth while causes out there but I have decided to raise for Ronald McDonald house in Glasgow that offers accommodation to families with sick children staying in Yorkhill hospital.

I have known families over the years who have greatly benefited from this accommodation and for some families they simply could not afford to be near their little one if it wasn't for this service that is offered completely free of charge. The Ronald McDonald House has 30 en-suite bedrooms, each with a phone directly linked to their child’s ward. The House also has communal areas that families can relax in, including a large open plan kitchen, dining room to eat dinner together as a family. To accommodate larger families there are a number of interconnecting bedrooms so families have a more comfortable living space while staying in the House.

The House is more than just a place for a family to rest their heads, it helps to give families who are far from home a safe base close by their sick child, creature comforts, and the invaluable support from other families living through similar situations.

I've set a target for this event to try and raise £1000 which I believe I can do with peoples support. This wont be an easy task but one I'll set about it with conviction to try and complete it and with a good time.
