'LEJOG' Lands End To John O Groats

Firstly why am I doing such a ridiculous challenge with not being a cyclist and up until recently not even owning a bike! I am still figuring this one out myself but a combination of a persuassive old Uni friend (cheers Stuart) and the idea of the challenge with a group of great mates for charity all seems like a good start.

The ride will take place in August 2011 completing between 70 and a 100 miles a day for 14 days.

My chosen charity Alzheimer's Research UK is a great cause being a leading charity in funding dementia research based in Cambridge. The reason I decided on the charity was the recognition of dementia's poor research spending. An amazing fact is that despite affecting around a million people in the UK and costing more in health and social care than cancer, strokes and coronary heart disease combined it only gains 6% of research spending of these four. So although a tough decision with so many great charities out there I went with Alziemer's research UK.

Thanks for your support for such a great charity.
