Story

Hi

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am now a veteran of 2 BUPA 10K's Runs.I ran 2010 BUPA Yorkshire 10K in 50 mins 59 seconds. I also ran this year's BUPA Great Manchester 10K in 48 mins 14 seconds.

I love setting myself challenges and decided to run this year's Great North Run in Newcastle in September.

I am running the Great North Run a distance of 13.1 miles to raise money for the British Heart Foundation a charity very close to my heart.

My father has had 2 multiple heart by pass operations and the charity has been invaluable in his well being. He looks younger than I am ;-).

They're the nation's heart charity and their vision is a world where people don't die prematurely from heart disease.

The British Heart Foundation achieve this through pioneering research, vital prevention activity and ensuring quality care and support for everyone living with heart disease

Their mission is to play a leading role in the fight against disease of the heart and circulation, so that it is no longer a major cause of disability and premature death

In there strategy report, Beating heart disease together (published in 2007), they stated that:

Within a generation, they aim to:

  • reduce cardiovascular disease in the UK to one of the lowest levels in Europe.

Within a decade, they aim to:

  • halve the number of people under 75 who die from cardiovascular disease
  • make sure at least two thirds of people under 75 survive a heart attack
  • reduce heart-related deaths in all UK local authority areas to the current level in South East England or below
  • reverse the increase in childhood obesity

My training is going very well and am hoping to run the Great North run in less than 2 hours.

Please give as little or as much as you can afford to raise money for a fantastic charity.Your support will help to spur me on to the finish line !

Many thanks

Kev x
