Supporting Sheffield Scholarships

Asda Foundation Sheffield 10K 2019 · 22 September 2019 ·
Thank you for visiting my Sheffield 10K Just Giving page in support of Sheffield Scholarships.
On 22 September I’ll be taking part in the Run for All Sheffield 10K as part of the University of Sheffield team. We’re raising funds to support scholarships at The University of Sheffield.
We are fundraising for student scholarships to give as many students as possible the opportunity to study at the University of Sheffield. Scholarships are vital to reduce barriers for bright students from disadvantaged backgrounds, giving them the opportunity to have a university education. Students who are from lower-income backgrounds often have to turn to loans to cover the cost of living, which can leave these students with debts £50,000 or more. Fear of these debts can discourage both prospective undergraduates and bright graduates from pursuing further study.
More information about why we’re fundraising for scholarships can be found here:

As a lecturer at the University, I am very aware of the burden that university costs place on students, and of the need to find ways to support more students financially. When I heard about the Sheffield 10K team, I decided to join and thus be able to make a contribution to the needs of future students at the University of Sheffield. I run regularly at different distances - my longest run so far being a half marathon - but don't participate in organized running events very often. This seemed to be a perfect opportunity to participate in a great cause.
We will be among thousands of runners who’ll descend on the city’s streets on 22 September. We’ll start in Arundel Gate in the heart of the city and continue on a journey along Charter Row and along
Ecclesall Road, before skirting the edges of Endcliffe Park. The route continues along Riverdale Road, along Endcliffe Vale Road, past the Endcliffe Village, then travels down Brocco Bank and back to an
exciting city centre finish.
