Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This year I am finally realising my dream of running the London Marathon, a dream which will entail hours of pain, exhaustion and mental anguish!

I guess my dreams could do with some improvement

The London marathon is notoriously difficult to get a place in - I first applied to run the marathon when I was just eighteen, and since then I have applied to run every 22 years. This year, I've finally got in, and will be running on April 13 as part of the City of London Marathon team. We're running on behalf of the The Lord Mayor's Appeal, and if you can spare anything, they are very worthwhile causes.

This year, the appeal is supporting 4 small charities:

  • Beating Bowel Cancer: who work to support all those affected by bowel cancer, as well as improving awareness of the condition and promoting early diagnosis.
  • Princess Alice Hospice: a charity dedicated to providing free, high-quality compassionate care and support for patients, their families and carers.
  • Raleigh International: a sustainable development charity that harnesses the passion and energy of young people to drive positive change in sustainable development.
  • Working Chance: who work to transform the lives of women ex-offenders by finding them jobs with quality employers.

Lots more info on the appeal and the charities can be found on the Appeal website; http://www.thelordmayorsappeal.org/

Thanks for taking the time to read all this, and if anyone fancies coming down to watch the run, let me know! Its a fun and enjoyable day out. I remember last year when some of the last, exhausted, pale wild eyed runners were coming through - you could see how much they'd given and how much it meant. But I remember thinking, as they stumbled towards me, that this is what it would be like to witness the hoards of the zombie apocalypse ambling towards you! Now, at last, I can be part of that apocalypse!
