Our son Charlie was born in Stroud on the 23rd November 2014. Unfortunately, he was not breathing. The midwives resuscitated him quickly and he was rushed to SCBU in Gloucester to be checked over. Just as we thought he would be getting the all-clear, he began having apnoeas, short periods where he was not breathing. Subsequently he was placed in an incubator and monitored closely in Intensive Care. Luckily, his condition improved quickly and after a week we were allowed to take our baby home. I am so grateful for everything that the Special Care Unit did for Charlie and would love to contribute in some small way to show my appreciation. I was shocked to discover that 80% of all the equipment in SCBU has been bought with charity money, so it is vitally important that they continue to receive funds so that they can continue to help babies in need. Thank you.
