Climbing Mt Blanc · 24 January 2013
It all started in March 2010 when I completed my first trek to Everest Base Camp. As tough as it was you kind of get the bug and want to do more. As many trekkers / mountaineers have been asked before, why do you do it - the answer is always because it is there :)
During the trek I met some wonderful people in my group and some brilliant long lasting friendships evolved. One of those friendships was with a dad and a daughter team, who worked together and achieved this amazing challenge together. Just watching them made me think about doing another challenge someday with my daughter.
So here I am two years on making ready to climb Mount Blanc with my daughter and son-in-law. It’s taken this long to convince her to do this challenge with me, but she has also now got the bug having just summited Mount Snowdon.
I have no doubt climbing Mount Blanc will be an amazing experience, but having my daughter with me will be the ultimate ‘WOW’ and one of the best days in my life.
In addition i also know that my daughter and Son will also be with us both in spirit even if not on the trek itself. Their love and support will be all the motivation we require to get us to the top - thank you Lucy and Ben xxx
During my last Trek I linked in with the Youth Cancer Trust, working with Georgina to help their charity provide support to families during their difficult journey. I am pleased to say that with the support of my family, friends and their friends we managed to raise over 3,200 GBP – I can’t thank them enough for their generosity.
It is not in my nature to ask for money from anyone and I always feel slightly embarrassed, even when I ask for a great cause like the Youth Cancer trust. But to all my family, friends and their friends please help as much as you can to support this cause.
Thank you for all your support, I will keep you all up to date with training and progress during the climb commencing 3 July to 9 July.
