Story

I have taken on the daunting challenge of running the Glasgow to Edinburgh Ultramarathon, 55 miles in total, starting in Ruchill Park, following the Forth & Clyde Canal to Linlithgow then joining the Union Canal at Broxburn before finishing at Edinburgh Quay near Haymarket Train Station. Before training began for this, the furthest I had run was a half marathon in September.

My chosen charity is St. Margaret's Hospice in Clydebank. My Dad passed away there in July 2011. The care he received and compassion for the whole family was exceptional and I'd like to thank them by raising as much money as possible.

I plan to run the Ultramarathon in between 10 and 12 hours and will have my good friend Andy Watt for company, it's going to be tough, no doubt about it, but it'll be worth it if I can raise a lot of money for a very worthwhile cause.

After that, we'll be running the Edinburgh Marathon on the 26th May, upping the pace a little and hoping to finish between 3.30 and 4 hours.
