Story

This is Kevins page really but you know how technical he is so I asked Kevin to tell us about Ruth, these are the wonderful words he wrote:

February 27th 2013
It all became so clear in the hospital waiting room. After seven years of peace, we discovered that my darling Ruth would not be allowed to leave  unless she used crutches and that our holiday, that she had so cleverly planned, would be remembered as the point that she never felt well again.

Had we known that we would have never gone to Iceland, stood on glaciers, climbed volcanoes, stood under icy waterfalls or seen the most spectacular northern lights through till morning. But now all this seemed so distant.

As now there was no escape until she was taken on 20th August last.

Ruth was the joy of my life and oh boy we had so much fun in our 47 years together. As I look back on the youtube we made for her I remember the song was our life.

She wasn't Ruth with cancer! She was RUTH the only person who said "I made her laugh every morning " and I said that was before I put my clothes on!

Now some of my B.O.B. ( Band of Brothers) will be walking in memory of her beautiful life, her infectious laugh, her enquiring mind and her love for all which is her legacy to our family, as she Walked her Walk, Raced for Life, walked Under the Moon and Marathoned in New York all because she could.

Well, now it's our turn so here we go. The flowers she so loved represent the joy she found in all things as she bought colour to all she met - and BOY DID SHE LEAVE A BEAUTIFUL FRAGRANCE BEHIND HER .

That's RUTH my darling wife.

Why Hospiscare?

Ruth and I were totally surprised at how much help we got from Hospiscare they were truly remarkable in every way.  We thought there were only for the end of life. For without their help we would have we really struggled the first year for such simple things.

When I think of Hospiscare I'd rather have called them HELPSTICE

And join us in celebrating Ruth and Kevins love as his Band of Brothers.
