CAN YOU GO WITHOUT FOOD FOR 24 hours?
FAST 24 is a campaign that puts you in the shoes of people who don’t have a promised meal each day.
My name is Khuzo and this year I decided to work with UNICEF and pledge to FAST 24, because I wanted to show my support to the millions of children out in the world who are suffering from UNDERNUTRITION. DID YOU KNOW that nearly 3 million children die each year because of this?
As bad as that sounds, undernutrition is not the only problem they face. Threats like; STUNTED GROWTH, WASTING AND MALNUTRITION, are more battles they experience on a daily basis, which I believe is unfair on them. Every child should have access to the required food and resources they need to grow strong and healthy.
I Come from Zambia, a country which has a high stunted growth percentage rate. Nearly 34% of children between the ages of 0 and 5 across the whole population experience stunted growth due to undernutrition. This is one of the several factors that motivate me to spread awareness and encourage people to support the cause.
Through FAST 24, you and I can all help ensure that children across the world receive at least one meal a day.
