Kilimanjaro · 2 February 2010

Starlight is the UK’s leading charity for children’s play in hospitals and hospices. We work to ensure every child can experience the power of play, supporting their mental and physical health during treatment and recovery from illness.

Story

Gareth Roberts, Paul Ross, Nichol Weatherston, John Morshead, Rod Bulmer, Ken Wattret, Richard Burrows and Paul Gillespie will be walking up (and down) Mount Kilimanjaro from 2nd February to the 12th February 2010.

This is part of a number of our 40th birthday celebrations or the start of our collective mid life crisis – you decide.

The mountain is 5,895m high (19,340ft) and we will be following the The Machame Route which is 26km long. There is a chance of problems with the altitude but I understand that this gets easier with age so we should all be fine.

We have decided that as part of this momentous trip we would like to raise some money for charity and we have selected Starlight Childrens Foundation, St Oswald's Hospice and the Migraine Trust. This is the page for Starlight.

Starlight Children’s Foundation

Starlight Children's Foundation brightens the lives of seriously and terminally ill children by granting their wishes and providing hospital entertainment to help take their minds off the pain, fear and isolation of their illness.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Thanks
