Edinburgh Marathon Festival 2019 · 25 May 2019 to 26 May 2019 ·

We assist the Diocese of the Rift Valley, in education, health and development. Our projects for 2024 are: 1) To update our anaesthetics machine. This will attract specialist surgeons, making more surgeries possible and surgery safer. 2) To replace mattresses for students at St John's.

Story

Hello!

We're taking part in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival on 25/26th May to raise money in support of The Kilimatinde Trust (Registered Charity No. 1063397).

This summer the three of us will be travelling to Tanzania for our senior elective placement, where we will volunteering as medical students at Kilimatinde Hospital.

The region surrounding Kilimatinde Hospital is semi-desert, prone to food crisis, water shortages and poverty. The local population is isolated from government funded services by distance, lack of funds and lack of transport, and relies on Kilimatinde Hospital for the provision of essential health care.

Our trip to Tanzania is entirely self-funded, but Kilimatinde Hospital relies solely on charitable donations and support from The Kilimatinde Trust to provide health care in the region. The trust also helps fund local education, clean water and small scale renewable energy programmes to help those most in need in the region.

For this reason we hope to raise as much as we can in support of the The Kilimatinde Trust alongside our elective - any donation, no matter how much, is hugely appreciated and really does make a difference.

Thank you!

Becca, Laura and Charlotte xxx
