The RHN cares for people who have brain damage or a disease affecting their brain. People come to the RHN for many reasons, from a stroke to a traffic accident, or a disease. The RHN provides services and therapies to ensure people with neuro-disability can have the best quality of life possible.

Story

I am running the London Marathon in April to help raise money for The Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability (RHN) in Putney.

The RHN is a national medical charity providing assessment, rehabilitation treatment and care for adults with profound and complex disabilities caused by disease or damage to the brain or other parts of the nervous system (http://www.rhn.org.uk/). Patients and residents may have had a brain injury caused by an accident, infection, lack of oxygen to the brain, or a clot or bleed into the brain causing a stroke. Others may have any of a range of degenerative neurological illnesses, such as multiple sclerosis or Huntington’s disease.

They need to raise over £2million in donations each year to support the care and treatment of their patients and residents and help pay for important services and facilities that make a real difference to their quality of life, independence and dignity.  These include music therapy, aquatic therapy, recreation and leisure activities, essential equipment such as hoists and individually designed wheelchairs.

I have done some volunteering at the hospital in the past and it is a truly amazing place. They believe it is essential for the wellbeing of people with brain injury and neurological illness to have the choice, access and control that most of us take for granted. With your support they can continue to provide the resources that set them apart from other providers of care and rehabilitation for people with neuro-disability.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thank you very much for your support.
