Story
Welcome to Kim and Nicky's just giving page. We are raising money for The Intensive Care Unit at The Royal Derby Hospital due to the excellent care dad received when he was in hospital. Dad was admitted for an operation to remove cancer of the oesophagus in January 2011, whilst in recovery from the operation dad became critically ill and contracted both pneumonia and acute respiratory distress syndrome. Dad's condition deteriorated a number of times and it was down to the dedicated care and attention he received from all of the nursing staff in ICU that allowed him to move onto the ward after 4 weeks.
After 11 weeks in hospital dad was finally allowed to come home, and start his rehabilitation.
1 year on, dad is still recovering from his ordeal. It could take upto another 18 months before he reaches full health, we believe that without the dedication, hard work and care received from the ICU department dad may not be with us today.
On the 31st of March we will be walking 26.7 miles of challenging terrain around 6 dales in Derbyshire.

We wish to raise as much money as possible for the Intensive Care Unit to ensure the excellent level of care continues for other patients.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story, donations are gratefully received!
