I have a passion for wildlife but there has always been a special place in my heart for Africa and in particular the rhino.  A few years ago I had the amazing opportunity to work on a game reserve in South Africa and got to face first hand the effects of poachers.  There was a beautiful animal there who had been a victim along with two others and I was a part of the team to help treat her injuries.  The everlasting images of her beautiful face destroyed will live me forever!  She now has two beautiful calves and is still thriving despite her ordeal.  But there are so many that don't have that opportunity.  The statistics are scary, with 4 rhino taken every day by poachers, not including the unborn babies that are killed alongside their mothers.  The numbers are so low that we could lose them all within the next 10 years.

I have strived to make a difference in any way i can.  My research project gor university focused on the attitudes to poaching and legalisation of trade in regards to rhino horn.  I am always trying to raise awareness of the rhino plight bith in Africa and Asia.  And I feel that being a part of a charity like Rhino Revolution Uk that I can help do more.

Rhino Revolution UK helps to raise awareness and funds to help with the rescue, rehabilitation and release of injured rhino in the Greater Kruger area.  They support antipoaching units and local community through education and are working to create a safer habitat for all the wildlife, protection for one species protects them all.

My race night for rhinos is a fun filled night, 18th August from 7pm, with races *No live animals involved*, more games, a quiz, raffle, an auction and a disco to end the night.  Entry is £5 which includes a hot roll (veggie/vegan option available) and raffle tickets are available to those both attending and not.

Please come along or if you're busy please buy some raffle tickets and/or buy and name a horse (£10) or put your name down as a jockey (£5).  Either way you will be supporting a great cause and the rhinos (and us fighting for them) will be very grateful.  If you are paying to buy something please leave me a message with what it is you are paying for and I will organise it for you.  Thank you.
