Kiran donates her hair · 18 May 2014

The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or to other conditions. The charity is also one of the largest funders of childhood cancer research in the UK.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

It all started with the no-makeup selfies that were going around on Facebook. And then I saw a Facebook post of a mother who lost her 2 year old daughter to cancer in November 2013. She wrote about how awareness is great but not enough unless it brings change. And one of the ways she suggested change was possible, was by donating hair to be made into wigs.

I then met a dear friend of mine who aged 35 got breast cancer and started her own personal fight against cancer. After an agonising year in which she did lose her hair, she won the fight. But told me how important a support network is for those fighting this horrific battle.

So I thought we could be the change, be that support for these brave people. On the 18th of May 2014, I will cut off my hair and donate it to the Little Princess Trust (http://www.littleprincesses.org.uk/) The hair will go towards making a wig for a child who would have lost his/her hair mainly due to cancer but also alopecia.

The Little Princess Trust provides these wigs free to children  However, the cost to the charity to purchase one wig is on average £350.  So it’s not just my hair that’s needed, it is also some funds. And that’s why I am looking towards you. Any amount of funds that we raise can help the trust provide wigs to both boys and girls that have lost their own hair.

Whilst I know many close family and friends who have fought cancer, I cannot even begin to imagine what it must be like for them. But if this tiny contribution can make that journey slightly less painful for some children, it would be well worth it.
Please support me either through funds, through kind words or by spreading the word.

Thank you,
Kiran xx
