Thanks for visiting Kirsty and Matt's wedding justgiving page for Sense.
Rather than having a traditional wedding gift list, we would like to donate the money you would have spent on gifts to four charities. The amount you donate will not be visible on our page, but please leave us a message. Here is a little bit about Sense below:
Approximately 95% of the information we receive about the world is received through our eyes and ears. So those with limited vision and hearing face huge daily challenges. But given the right support deafblind people can develop their talents, making the most of their abilities to live fulfilling lives.
Sense has worked with deafblind people for over 50 years. They help deafblind children and their families and increasingly as our population is ageing they help growing numbers of people who are becoming deafblind through old age. Up to 242,000 people over the age of 75 in the UK may be deafblind through losing their sight and hearing due to old age.
An example of what your gift may buy is below:
A £15 donation could cover the cost of a tactile book to develop a child's sense of sight and touch.
A £20 donation could cover the cost of a support worker who will be the eyes and ears of an older deafblind person, enabling them to remain independent by helping with the shopping or visiting the post office.
A £30 donation could pay for a group of deafblind children to stimulate their senses of smell, touch and taste through chocolate-making on their Sense holiday.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
