Sponsored Silence · 11 June 2019

The Flicka Foundation saves donkeys and horses from cruelty, neglect, and abandonment. They are rescued, rehabilitated and live out the rest of their lives in comfort, peace and tranquility with everything they need

Story

As a work team we recently went to Flicka to volunteer for the day - it was cold, wet and windy (even a few moments of sleet and snow) but we all had a great day and were amazed at what an amazing place this is and by the work and support that they do.

Some of the animals that Flicka has rescued have suffered unthinkable cruelty or neglect; some have been abandoned or rescued from certain death, not just in the UK but countries all over the continent. The sanctuary currently cares for over 95 donkeys, horses and ponies and it costs over £100,000 a year to feed and care for the animals (this doesn't include staff, most are volunteers, site maintenance or equipment).

The sanctuary is amazingly well run and cared for, it is clean, tidy and the animals best interests are put first (they also have an amazing cafe if anyone is in the area and if not it is well worth a visit!).

We would really like to support the work that Flicka does by raising some funds and as a way of saying 'thank you' for having us for the day - we learnt a lot and would definitely like to come again.

The sponsored silence will take place on 11th June 2019 between 10am and 2pm - our phone calls will be answered by another team, and work communication will be via email or hand written messages. Chat between us isn't allowed (for us four hours without saying anything is going to be a MASSIVE challenge!) and there will be a 'penalty pot' for those of us taking part should we slip up!

We would love it if you could support us - even the smallest donations will add up.

Thank you! xxx
