Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. As most of you know, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer at the end of 2016. Then I spent the best part of a year on the treadmill of treatment: surgery, then chemo, followed by radiotherapy. I found the recovery afterwards just as hard as the treatment, and the charity YOUCAN has been a great support.
This is why we are asking you for donations instead of wedding gifts. Guy and I have all we need, so we thought it would be a good opportunity to give something back, and raise awareness of how important the aftercare post treatment is. The support services that YOUCAN provides helps young people impacted by cancer build up their confidence again, and find their path to a 'new normal.'
Here are some examples of how your donations will help:
£10 can pay for a young person to build confidence and participate in a support group activity.
£30 can pay for a complimentary therapy, such as reiki or reflexology.
£50 can pay for a counselling session; creating a safe place to talk through fears and emotions.
£100 can pay for a young person affected by cancer to attend a well-being day.
£150 can pay for a 12 week exercise programme with a personal trainer.
£250 can pay for a tailor made health and nutrition workshop for eight people.
£350 can pay for a family affected by cancer to enjoy a holiday by the sea in the YouCan House.
£500 can pay for ten cancer support sessions, which can help a family cope with adjusting to cancer emotionally, socially and practically.
£1000 can fund five people to benefit from a well-being retreat; an inspiring weekend of pampering, relaxation and therapies with a chance to spend time with people in the same position and of a similar age.
Finally, Guy and I would like to thank all of you kind, wonderful people for your love and support, and for sharing in our special day. It will make it feel even more meaningful knowing that together we will be helping others like me.
