NICHS is leading the fight against chest, heart and stroke illnesses in NI. We provide support for people affected, and work to prevent these illnesses by delivering health checks and health promotion programmes, funding research and campaigning for improved care, treatment and awareness.

Story

NI Chest Heart and Stroke are the charity that is benefitting from a charity day run by the NI Fire and Rescue Service on Saturday 26th May 2012.

It all starts at 8am at Custom House Square with a sponsored cycle around the Ards peninsula passing Bangor, Donaghadee stopping at Portaferry fire station for some refreshments then onto Newtownards using the Comber Greenway to bring us back to Custom House Square.

Custom House Square will be the venue for a Fire Service family open day from 12 noon to 4pm and will see all the hardware on show from the Fire Service and you will hopefully be arriving in the midst of this. Spin bikes will be available throughout the event and we are encouraging all those who cannot do the peninsula cycle to consider this as a form of fundraising. The blood bus will be there to encourage people to donate and the organ register people will be on hand to get people to sign up for organ donation. The theme of the day is Be a Hero through either cycling ,donating blood or signing the organ register. It is open to everyone and their families and you would all be most welcome.
