The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or to other conditions. The charity is also one of the largest funders of childhood cancer research in the UK.

Story

Just over two years ago I began growing my hair with the aim of getting it long enough to be able to donate to this amazing charity: The Little Princess Trust.

The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs free of charge to children, who have sadly lost their own hair due to cancer treatment and other illnesses. The Trust relies solely on the efforts of community fundraisers as they receive no formal funding.

We all know cancer is terrible disease, but we always see it as happening to someone else, not us or someone close to us. Sadly for me, that myth was dispelled, as my mom was diagnosed with bladder cancer a year ago. It shook my world and brought everything to a stand still. The one thing that remained constant through her battle,  was her positive attitude. Her whole demeanour and attitude remained nothing but positive, confident and inspirational. I can now say she is in her ninth month of remission.

This reaffirmed my determination to make this donation possible. If I can just give one child the courage and confidence to face this battle head-on, I’ve made a difference. As a teacher you make a difference everyday, to the children in your class, your school and your community. This is my chance to make a difference beyond even that.

That’s where I need your help. Together we can give back a child’s confidence, their spirit, their smile.

Please feel free to donate whatever you can, as it all helps this amazing cause. I will be having my hair cut on the 13th July, by the wonderful Kymberley Dabbs-Hewitt.
