London Marathon 2018 · 22 April 2018 ·
Hi there, thanks for visiting my JustGiving page... Wow, I can't believe that this will be my third consecutive London Marathon!!! This is a journey that started back in Jan 2015 when I decided to give up smoking and get fit so I can be a better role model for my daughter - I never expected to last this long to be honest! :) So here we are again, the journey continues and the principles are firmly the same. The experience gained from last 2 Marathons will hopefully guide me during the ups and downs of the training; allow me to enjoy the excitement and atmosphere of the event, and finally, to hopefully end the journey with a feeling of achievement that I have managed to provide, once again, some assistance to this great charity.
I feel very fortunate and honoured to run, on behalf of the London Ambulance Service, for the Charlie Chaplin Adventure Playground charity again this year. I have personally visited the Playground and I was really impressed by the amazing work they are doing.
Charlie Chaplin Adventure Playground provides high quality play provision for disabled
children, their brothers and sisters and children from the community. The services they provide continue to develop as they strive to best meet the needs of the children and families with whom they work with.
They support children and young people from 5-19 years of age and offer a diverse range of challenging and exciting play opportunities in a spacious, purpose build
setting. The playground has a large, friendly and experienced staff team who take time to build relationships with users and parents / carers alike. A child-centred approach is central to all aspects of the playground's development and they encourage users to become active participants in shaping its future.
Functioning as more than a playground, Charlie Chaplin offers a social aspect to respite / short breaks that few other agencies can claim to provide. This is of great benefit to parents and carers as well as their users. Children learn from each other and develop new skills and understandings in a nurturing and supporting environment while parents and carers are able to catch up with other priorities, safe in knowledge that their children are being looked after and having fun.
I would be really grateful for your sponsorship. I know how many other people have probably also approached you about sponsoring then, so even a small donation would be much appreciated.
Like last year, my main goal is to complete the Marathon for Charlie Chaplin and enjoy
the experience, but.... I really want this done in 4 hours this time!!!!
Thank you very much; I'll let you know how it goes!
