Story

One evening at our local 'The Bell Inn Chittlehampton' (which is where these things usually begin!!)

A few of us realised there was now a growing number of keen cyclists among us. since taking up the sport myself, following a serious road accident and having had a bike adapted, i had entered many sportives and achieved many goals.

However it was said that we really ought to do some fundraising for a local charity and set ourselves a challenge!! many ideas were swapped and as the liquid refreshments went down! from somewhere came the idea to cycle from said watering hole to Lands end and BACK! in 24hrs! Really!!?? came several replies! No Stopping, No Sleep!

But here we are and it is happening.

The Challenge:-

We have set ourselves the challenge of cycling from The Bell Inn, Chittlehampton to Lands End AND BACK in 24 hours,

Over 260 miles without stopping (apart from to fill and empty my belly)!

We will depart from The Bell at 1500hrs on 24 August and will return by 1500hrs on 25 August to where it all began for a well deserved drink or 3!

The 7 brave or stupid soon to be exhausted cyclists are:

John Miller    Matthew Jones    James Page    Josh Wren    Ciaron Lishman        Liam Craze  and  Ian Berry.

We will be fully supported by Kirstie Miller and Sandra Lishman in the team bus all the way.

We know the challenge will be a real struggle; but is something we are determined to achieve in order to show our support for such an admirable charity as The Royal British Legion.

The Royal British legion has been campaigning to further the cause of serving personnel, ex-service men and women and their families since 1921. They provide help with all manner of things; ranging from prosthetic limbs, bereavement counseling, inquests, homelessness, disabled facilities grants to the Armed Forces compensation scheme to name but a few.

So please give generously and help us to support such an admirable and often neglected charity, which helps so many people on a day-to-day basis.
