Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. The picture was taken 2 days ago and is of me, my sister Jackie and of course Sara, making memories.

So, I won't be sending Christmas cards again this year,  instead I am going to do what I have done the last couple of years and donate some money to Cancer Research instead. That does not mean I do not wish everyone reading this a very happy and healthy festive season, I really do,  but I still want to do a little bit for this cause, which is so close to my heart. If you want to know why, heres an update.....

In September 2016 and my beloved niece Sara was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. She's much more than a niece, my sister had 2 girls I had 2 boys and the girls are like the daughters I never had, we are a very close family.

Months of treatment followed and roughly 18 months later it was all gone and things, as much as they can do, returned to normal. Anyone who has been involved with cancer knows that 'normal' is not something you ever get back to, a cancer diagnosis alters you physically and mentally, not just the person with the cancer, but loved ones and friends too.

October 18 she was told after a routine mammogram, the cancer was back, and once again she was facing more treatment and losing her hair again for the second time.

You would think that was it...........unfortunately it was not..................... one routine body scan later and we found out that it had spread to her spine. The fantastic treatment and care she has had has been amazing and a new drug she took Pretuzamab (hope I spelt that right!) has been working and closed the holes in her spine. Accepting that every 3 weeks she would have this treatment in Maidstone for the rest of her life she moved back to Kent from London and into a house with her partner Rich to finally start moving on with their lives.

I have no words for what has happened over the past 2 weeks, just to say that the original site now needs attention and my darling Sara again will face surgery in January.

This illness/disease does not discriminate, we did not have this in our family, it came out of the blue, it's so BLOODY UNFAIR, all I know is that research is the only thing that will eventually deal with this and I can't do much, but at least feel like I am doing something raising some money for the cause.

Sara once again will meet this challenge head on, she's taught me so much and I can't put in words how proud I am of her, she's one amazing young lady who melts my heart.

If you can see your way to donating to this cause it would be very much appreciated and together we will beat cancer

I wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas  and a healthy and happy New Year, xxxx
