Story
I'm so excited to say that through ICS (International Citizen Service), I will be volunteering as part of the charity International Service in Burkina Faso for 10 weeks!!
My rough departure and return dates are: 13th April - 22 June 2018!
International Service aims to empower women, children, young people, and disabled people to access their rights in developing countries across the world. This is something which I am incredibly passionate about, particularly promoting the rights of people with disabilities. Now I have been given the opportunity to make a positive change in the one of the least developed countries in the world.
In the next few weeks I will find out about the project which I will be working on for the full duration of my placement, and so I will keep everyone updated!
The majority of the ICS programme (90%) is funded by the UK's Department for International Development. The remaining funds are raised by volunteers who take part in the scheme. I have therefore been set a fundraising target of £800. The money that I raise will not only allow me to participate in this programme, but it will enable more young people to participate in the ICS programme, ensuring that more communities throughout the world are reached in the fight against poverty.
I would therefore be extremely grateful if you could please support me in any way possible to reach my fundraising goal of £800! I'll be completing several fundraising events in the following 7 weeks before my departure date! I will be sure to post these on my social media so please keep an eye out! These include:
- climbing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks
- holding a car boot sale
- completing a £5 food challenge
Any donations will be so gratefully appreciated!! Whether you are able to please donate to this fundraising page, or to donate items towards my challenges, every bit of support will mean a lot!
Thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page!
