We are the staff of Lady Bankes Infant and Nursery School, Ruislip Manor, Middlesex.

In 2007, we took part in the Cancer Research 'Relay For Life' at Queensmead School, a 24 hour walking relay.

We held various fundraising events leading up to the Relay, the most successful being an auction which raised £3,500. Our overall fundraising total for Cancer Research UK was just short of £11,000.

During the last year, many of the team have had to come to terms with family members, friends and colleagues being diagnosed with cancer.

We therefore decided to raise funds for Cancer Research UK again this summer.

During the months leading up to the event we sent out approximately 500 letters to businesses and celebrities asking for support. We received 226 donations which were used for the auction, raffle and various tombolas. We also received an overwhelming response to requests to our school community for donations both of goods and money for non uniform days.

On Friday 2nd July, the team members and our P.T.A. (Friends Of Lady Bankes Association - F.O.L.B.A.) held a fete after school.

All monies raised by stalls run by team members and 50% of profits on stalls run by  F.O.L.B.A. are to be donated to Cancer Research UK.

The team ran several stalls at the fete, including a Teddy Tombola, a Celebrity Tombola, a tombola, a raffle, a bric-a-brac stall, nail painting, etc.

Thank you to everyone who attended the fete which was extremely busy with many stalls completely selling out of tickets/prizes.

The team members then stayed in the school, taking part in a walking relay around the athletics track throughout the night, finishing on Saturday 3rd July.

We also held an auction which raised approximately £1000 with 51 out of 59 lots selling.
