Over the weekend of 30-31 July we completed the our Lakeland 50 Challenge and in doing so we have raised just short of £1,000 for the Elisabeth Svendsen Trust http://www.elisabethsvendsentrust.org.uk The Elisabeth Svendsen Trust for Children and Donkeys (EST) is a UK based charity dedicated to providing riding therapy with donkeys to children with special needs and disabilities.

 

The Lakeland 50 is what it says 50 mile across the Lakeland fells to be completed in under 24 hours, which proved to be a truly memorable weekend for many reasons. So much so we are now looking at taking part in the Lakeland 100 next year.

 

Recently both Tina and I visited our local EST centre to hand over some of the funds we had raised and left with the feeling we want to do more to help this fantastic cause. So we are now extending our justgiving page to include the Great North Run, which we will be doing on the 18 September 2011.

 

I know at this time it may feel everyone is asking you for money but having seen the scope of the work EST do and the number of families that benefit form their work we want to make one last push to get past the £1,000.

The aims of the EST are to bring enjoyment and pleasure into their lives and to give them the satisfaction that comes with the achievement of learning riding skills.

The children who attend the centres have a wide range of disabilities; some may have learning difficulties, others are physically disabled or have behavioral problems, brain damage or sensory impairment.

Your support and our thoughts on the work of EST will keep us going when may be our bodies are asking “why are we doing this?”
