Story

<p><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: &amp;quot;Tahoma&amp;quot;,&amp;quot;sans-serif&amp;quot;; mso-ansi-language: EN;">In a moment of sheer brilliance (or madness!), the Music Department at Wycombe High School decided to present the staff and friends of WHS with a challenge; to learn a new instrument and pass a Grade One exam in six months. Participants are being sponsored to raise money for the &lsquo;Play Your Part&rsquo; campaign. We at WHS are looking to raise &pound;1.5 million in order to build a new Music block and upgrade our Performing Arts facilities in other parts of the school, work that is desperately needed. The 'Play Your Part' campaign calls on everybody in our school community to use their many talents and skills in order to raise these funds.</span><span style="mso-ansi-language: EN;"></span></span></p> <p><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: &amp;quot;Tahoma&amp;quot;,&amp;quot;sans-serif&amp;quot;; mso-ansi-language: EN;">I decided to learn the violin and have the honour of being taught by one of our most promising and talented violinists, Lucy Twine!&nbsp;&nbsp;Lucy is in Year 13 and&nbsp;juggles her academic workload with a staggering amount of extra-curricular musical commitments both in school and outside.&nbsp; She is very patient and encouraging and it&nbsp;is an interesting experience for me to be in a role reversal!&nbsp;&nbsp; This is an exciting project. We are delighted to have 60 members of staff taking up the challenge&nbsp;of&nbsp;learning a new instrument.&nbsp; In addition&nbsp;30 students and peripatetic teachers are teaching these 'new students'.&nbsp;&nbsp; We hope to raise a significant amount of money for the 'Play Your Part' campaign. </span><span style="mso-ansi-language: EN;"></span></span></p> <p><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: &amp;quot;Tahoma&amp;quot;,&amp;quot;sans-serif&amp;quot;; mso-ansi-language: EN;">You can follow our progress, watch videos and find out more at:</span><span style="mso-ansi-language: EN;"></span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family: &amp;quot;Tahoma&amp;quot;,&amp;quot;sans-serif&amp;quot;; mso-ansi-language: EN;"><a href="http://whs.moodledo.co.uk/course/view.php?id=4917"><span style="color: #0000ff; font-size: small;">http://whs.moodledo.co.uk/course/view.php?id=4917</span></a></span><span style="mso-ansi-language: EN;"></span></p> <p><span style="font-family: &amp;quot;Tahoma&amp;quot;,&amp;quot;sans-serif&amp;quot;; mso-ansi-language: EN;"><span style="font-size: small;">Thank you for your support!</span></span><span style="mso-ansi-language: EN;"></span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
