Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our Just Giving page

After the fantastic success of last year's charity football match in hounor of Lana Kaye Murphy and in support of Tiny Lives, we've decided to organise another game between the same teams.

If you weren't lucky enough to witness last year's showcase of footballing excellence :-) then please see the Shields Gazette's nice write up at http://www.shieldsgazette.com/news/grieving-jarrow-couple-raise-8-000-in-memory-of-their-tragic-baby-1-7148446

In an effort to develop this event, the teams have ordered new strips and chosen new names and badges. Formally known as the Tangerines, this team are now called Little Rock Rovers as Lana in Gaelic means "little rock". The other team have adopted the name FC Et Iris 2410 - Et Iris is Latin for "Rainbow" and the 2410 refers to Lana's birth date.

South Shields FC have kindly given us permission to use their ground, Filtrona Park, the same venue we used last year. The gates will be open from 2pm and kick off is at 3pm. This is not a ticketed event, but we do hope for a charitable contribution on the gate, as all money raised on the day will go directly to Tiny Lives. The bar within the Mariners Club will be open like normal as it would be on match days and we have organised a bouncey castle for any kids attending.

Anyone who came to watch last year's match will tell you it was such a lovely day with friends and family. We hope to have another big turn out this year, so if you're free you will be more than welcome to come cheer us on! As always, let's do Lana proud x

A bit of background information about Tiny Lives...

Tiny Lives is a registered charity that helps to care for premature and sick newborn babies and their families and are based in the Special Care Baby Unit of the Newcastle Neonatal Service based in Ward 35 of the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.

Although it was absolutely heartbreaking for Gemma and I when Lana passed away we feel so lucky to have had Tiny Lives there to support us. Without them we would not have able to create such special memories in the short time Lana was with us.  As a result we want to give something back and support other parents in the future.
