Cat's son Alfie was born with an extremely rare skin condition called Bullous Ichthyosiform Erythroderma.  This condition causes the skin to be excessively fragile and can easily blister or peel.  The skin also grows faster than normal causing a thick build up of skin which cracks.  The condition can be very sore at times and his care involves lots of long baths, ALOT of greasy creams and sometimes bandages.  Despite all of this, Alfie is a very happy little boy with a cheeky personality.

The ISG (ichthyosis support group) are a fantastic charity offering people with ichthyosis and their families much needed support as often doctors who initially see babies with ichthyosis are unaware of the conditions and cannot offer much information.  The ISG run a family event each year which is a great way to meet other families living with ichthyosis and to hear about new research and information.  They have given Cat, Lee and Alfie a wealth of information and support where without the charity they would have felt a little lost!!
