Story
Thanks for visiting my page. I am running the.... Marathon (26.3 miles!!) on 19th April 2020 and I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation's research and I'd be so grateful for your support.
In Summer of 2019 , sadly my mum suffered a heart attack. It came as a huge shock and I found it extremely hard and difficult during this time with trying to figure out what to say or do about the situation as it was one of the hardest times of my life. I felt extremely helpless to come home from work to see what was happening to my mum and watching the paramedics whilst they tended to her and rushed her off to hospital.
I cannot thank the doctors and nurses enough, especially to the doctor who saw how overwhelmed my dad and I were as we sat helplessly in the waiting room. He explained exactly what life saving surgery my mum had to have and reassured us that she will be okay.
The BHF is a charity close to my heart as my uncle sadly passed away due to heart complications, this is why I am running the marathon for the British Heart Foundation, to support the life saving research that helps these doctors save lives and make such a huge impact on my family.
All of the money donated will go towards funding life saving research that has already halved death rates from heart and circulatory disease and improved treatments so that most babies born with congenital heart diseases survive till adulthood.
Although the BHF has contributed to the halving of the number of fatalities related to heart and circulatory disease in the UK, there are sadly still hundreds of people that lose their lives everyday due to this. It's only thanks to the support, from people like us, given to the BHF to allow them to create new treatments and discover new cures. Just £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please donate however much you can (small or large) so that we can help BHF continue to help and improve the lives of families like mine.
Thanks for all your support,
Love Lara x
