Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page - All funds are paid directly to NDCS.
David and I welcomed our beautiful baby girl Ella on the 22nd November 2020. We found out soon after that she is deaf in both ears and will need hearing aids for the rest of her life.
Ella and I are going to take on a walking challenge during the week of my birthday (8th-14th Feb). 50 miles for the 50,000 deaf children within the UK. This works out at 100,000 steps. Ella will be present on all walks!
I am looking to raise money and awareness to help a charity that does so much for both the children and the families effected by a hearing loss. 90-95% of deaf children are born to able-hearing parents. I can honestly say that during pregnancy, the thought of this being a possibility had not crossed my mind!
- £60 enables a deaf child to have access to a digital streamer. This allows them to listen specifically to the TV & music, as well as use the phone and have a conversation in a noisy place! All the things we take for granted.
- Just £12.50 gives a family, who have just found out their baby is deaf, 20 minutes of free and confidential support. The amount of support NDCS provide is overwhelming and hugely appreciated in what feels like such an isolating time!
- £25 pays for a weekly sign language class!
Any donation big or small will go a long way to helping deaf children live an "ordinary" life.
