London Landmarks Half Marathon 2021 · 1 August 2021 ·

We’re Mind, the mental health charity, working across England & Wales. We believe no one should face a mental health problem alone. We’re here for you. Whether you’re stressed, depressed or in crisis. We’ll listen, give support & advice, & fight your corner. Thanks for fundraising for national Mind.

Story

In March 2020, I will be taking on the massive challenge of running the London Landmarks Half Marathon. Please give what you can. Your support will make a massive difference and really help me to make it through my training program during the cold, dark winter months, and  to reach the finish line!

Mental health is an important aspect of our well-being. Often hidden from the outside world, and a taboo subject for many generations, we are only now slowly starting to publicly recognise the impact emotional health has on us all.

No one is immune.
No matter who you are and the life you've lived or are living today. Everyone needs a helping time at some point in their life.
There should be no stigma, and support and understanding should be available to all.

I was first exposed to the huge impact mental health has on us when one of my best friends tried to take her life at age 15. Her struggle had been hidden from all of us- even her closest friends and sister. At age 17, a classmate sadly succeeded where my friend had failed, and we all fell apart. If only they had said something. If only they felt they had someone to turn to, free from judgement. If only someone had been there when they needed it the most. If only they had been able to get the support they desperately needed...

Today, as an adult, what I find hardest is the impact on the families (whether parents or children) of those affected, and the knowledge that too many suicides and 'lost years' of depression could simply be prevented with the right support. This is why this charity means so much to me.

Thank you so much.
