Story

Hi everyone,

I am a Veterinary Nurse working in north Wales and I decided last year that a great New Year's Resolution would be to challenge myself to do something Big. As I enjoy the outdoors, mountain climbing and am so proud of my husband's time of completing the Welsh 3000's (12 1/2 hours in the wet), my competitive edge came out and thought I would try to match (if not beat!) his time! For those who don't know, the Welsh 3000's are 14 peaks exceeding 3000 feet at their summit and the total length of the walk is approximately 30 miles. The total gain in height is open to debate, I've found various numbers between 3000 and 4000 metres!

I have been in full on training since February, making longer and longer hikes and I aim to complete my challenge in June making use of the longer days. I will try to complete the 16 peaks in one expedition, but I may need to break them down into the three ranges; the Snowdon Horseshoe, the Glyderau and the Carneddau. Fingers crossed for clement weather!

I thought charity would benefit from my blisters and as a mountaineering Veterinary Nurse, chose Search and Rescue Dogs Association-Wales (SARDA) in the hope that I would never need their help, but in support of their valuable work!
